Highlight

Designing a Social Innovation Lab

We've been working with partners at Kent County Council to design a Social Innovation Lab for Kent (SILK). SILK is a platform for change with the local authority. It provides a focus and 'safe space' for non-incremental service innovation, it hosts projects from across the Authority at various stages of the service design process and it provides training and support in the tools of design-led service innovation.

SILK has already hosted successful projects to support father's in spending more time with their children, understand the challenges faced by low income families and improve the experience of the Council's Gateway centres. SILK was recently recognised by the UK Design Museum as one of the 'Designs of the Year' and the Local Government Channel recently made a short film about the programme's successes:
