Working with Engine

Services are systems of value creation. Producers and users of services have to work together to create the best service experience they can. This is often called co-creation, the collaborative approach we take at Engine.

We have a great deal of experience in co-design and user research with the users of services and front line professionals. We also spend a lot of time working inside service organisations. We have built a great deal of trust with our clients, and as a result have learnt a lot about how organisations do and don’t innovate.

All of Engine’s projects are set up as creative and collaborative processes involving as many people as our client wishes, often including customers and suppliers as important sources of insight. You can learn about our process steps in the Our process section. Our work is grounded in what we call the Five fundamentals of service and service design. Under this framework sits a suite of tools and resources from which we construct the best methodology for the objectives of each project.

We normally begin by writing a project proposal - it is key to a good project. Playing out the structure of a project in advance through a project plan builds our clients’ confidence. Our work across many sectors has given Engine a depth and breadth of understanding about services and how service organisations work. Getting to know new types of business in differing industry sectors is one thing that keeps us gripped.
