The Future Shape of Barnet
Our work with Barnet Council on their exciting Future Shape project has been continuing. We recently finished a research phase with the council, looking into the lives of ‘hard to reach’ disadvantaged people in the borough using ethnographic methods and designed research tools.
We then presented these to Barnet through in-depth reports and visualised life stories with accompanying analysis and insights.
Drawing systems and services to tackle disadvantage
These rich stories were then taken into a workshop, where members of the council from a cross-range of departments worked with Engine to design new services to improve the lives of these disadvantaged groups. This process of designing new services enabled Barnet to define a set of design principles for a future system.
Unusual yet familiar tools and techniques to model services
Through a series of innovative modeling and drawing phases the workshop group then began the process of constructing a new system for tackling disadvantage driven by their citizen-lead design principles. More to come…
