RSA Design Directions collaboration

The RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts) Design Directions scheme comprises a set of thought provoking student projects that take real world issues and ask: Where are the opportunities for meaningful design interventions that can deliver change and improvement?

This year weve been helping develop the RSA Design Directions awards.

• We developed the After the Post Office design brief with the RSA. Engine is sponsoring this award with the UK Design Council and NCR.

• We developed and wrote The Visit design brief after following the experience of visiting prisoners in Wandsworth Prison in London and speaking to some of the professionals who work with the families and friends of prisoners everyday.

• Well be running a half day workshop on service design and exploring the new challenges for design education as part of the Design Directions Tutors briefing day.

We are sure the competition entrants will come up with some engaging and innovative ideas that address these topical briefs, and we cant wait to see their final concepts.
