OurNewSchool snaps up a prize
After a year of hard work, Engine’s OurNewSchool project has successfully come together at the Dott 07 festival.
The OurNewSchool project looks at schools as a social system first and a building second. We worked closely with staff and pupils at Walker Technology College in order to create a brief for architects to design a new vocational learning block at the college. Please check out the OurNewSchool website for more background on the project.
Winners!
On Tuesday 16th October, at the Dott Community Awards where all Dott public commissions were presented and judged our school’s deputy head, Mike Collier won the Creative Citizen Award. He presented the OurNewSchool project through his personal experience. Listen here.
Additionally, OurNewSchool was runner up for the Community Project Award (best project).
Exhibition
We used our time with Walker Technology College to prototype the OurNewSchool project approach. The outcomes from the work at Walker and details of how OurNewSchool works were exhibited at the Dott 07 Festival - alongside a full programme of talks and activities.

We developed OurNewSchool: The game
