Improving life chances with London Borough of Southwark

Engine has embarked on an exciting project with its very own borough, London Borough of Southwark, to explore citizens’ experiences of getting support as a starting point for service improvements.

The Southwark Rise Project has been launched to identify issues in the borough around healthy weight and living, and also to understand the situations of those on low incomes in order to innovate and deliver new services more accurately to improve people’s life chances and to enable communities to better support themselves.

It will combine ethnographic user research as well as a co-design team including ordinary citizens, policy and delivery managers and front line staff, to ensure a broad picture of what the key issues and opportunities are. The project seeks to instigate transformation within LBS, towards more holistic, cross-silo ways of working, centred around their users’ needs.
